Course Recap

Code of Conduct

You’ve now completed Your Code, Your FtP — a course designed to help you connect each pillar of the NMC Code to your own professional journey, particularly in the context of a Fitness to Practise process.

Let’s recap the key points from each module:

Module 1: Promote Professionalism and Trust

You explored how your behaviour — inside and outside of work — affects the reputation of the profession. We looked at how the NMC views professionalism, and how showing leadership, honesty, and accountability helps rebuild trust in your role.

Module 2: Practice Effectively

This module focused on safe, evidence-based care. You considered the importance of staying within your competence, working collaboratively, and communicating clearly. You also reflected on what happens when care falls short — and how to demonstrate learning and improvement.

Module 3: Preserve Safety

You learned about your duty to protect patients, the public, and yourself. We looked at raising concerns, working within limits, and the professional duty of candour. This module helped you reflect on safety risks — whether direct or indirect — and how you responded.

Module 4: Prioritise People

Finally, you explored the heart of the Code: putting the people in your care first. You considered how to protect dignity, respect autonomy, and respond to individual needs — especially when under pressure. You were also encouraged to reflect on whether your actions showed empathy and person-centred care.

Final Assessment

To consolidate your learning, you’ll now complete a final assessment. This short quiz will test your understanding of the four pillars of the Code and how they apply to your practice. Don’t worry — this is an opportunity to show what you’ve learned and feel more confident in your understanding.

Final Thoughts

This course isn’t about judgement — it’s about insight.
By working through each module, you’ve developed a stronger understanding of how the Code applies to your case, how the NMC interprets professionalism, and how to meaningfully reflect on your practice.

You’ve taken a positive step forward, and that matters.
Whether this course supports your reflections, your hearing, or simply your own confidence — thank you for showing up and doing the work.
